Durable, efficient, and low-maintenance polypropylene electrowinning cells for gold recovery.
Gold electrowinning is a proven process used to recover metals from concentrated solutions through the application of electrical current. By applying voltage across the anode and cathode, metal ions are reduced and deposited onto the cathode surface, enabling efficient and reliable recovery.
At NOCKERS ENGINEERING PRODUCTS, we supply polypropylene gold electrowinning cells designed for reliable mineral recovery in mining and processing plants. Engineered with stainless steel and polypropylene components, our electrowinning cells provide robust construction, high efficiency, and minimal maintenance requirements.
Our polypropylene electrowinning cells are engineered to be robust, simple to operate, and low-maintenance, making them ideal for gold recovery in mining and processing plants. Each cell is built with a sandwich arrangement of nine anode assemblies positioned on either side of the cathode compartments, all contained within a durable polypropylene tank.
Cathode: The electrode where reduction occurs, connected to the negative terminal of the DC supply.
Anode: The electrode where oxidation occurs, connected to the positive terminal of the DC supply.
Cathodes: Stainless steel rod baskets filled with stainless steel mesh, housed in a polypropylene insulation frame.
Anodes: Stainless steel strips positioned alternately with cathodes for optimal efficiency.
Flow System: The gold-bearing electrolyte is pumped into one end of the cell, flows through all electrodes, and exits via the overflow weir. This design minimises bypassing and improves throughput efficiency.
At the end of each electrowinning cycle, the DC supply is switched off, the cathode pin bar and conductor are removed, and the cathodes are manually taken out of the cell. These are washed with high-pressure water to recover the deposited metal sludge before being returned to the cell, reconnected, and restarted.
For added protection, the hinged hood includes a locking facility to secure the cathode sludge, while the integrated ventilation manifold ensures safe extraction when connected to an external fan.
